In the life of a believer, fear is an enemy that must be confronted. It seeks to paralyze your faith and torments your mind with threats of evil. Fear blinds you to the possibility of victory and numbs your heart to God’s voice and guidance. To achieve great things in life, you must first overcome fear.
The Bible recounts how Joshua faced the daunting challenge of leading the people of Israel across the Jordan River into the land of Canaan. As he took on this responsibility, he was attacked by fear and intimidation. In response, God strengthened him and helped him overcome this assault. God assured Joshua, saying, “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage” (Joshua 1:5-6).
We can clearly see that it is a revelation of God’s presence with us that helps us overcome any fear the enemy may try to instill in us. We must embrace a bold and courageous spirit that comes from the Word, reminding ourselves, “God is with me, and I can fulfill what He has called me to do.”
This same message is shared with various individuals in the Bible:
In Genesis 26:24, God tells Isaac, “Fear not, for I am with you!”
In Deuteronomy 31:8, God encourages the people of Israel, saying, “God is with you; fear not.”
In Isaiah 43:5, God comforts His people with the words, “Fear not, for I am with you.”
The number one antidote to fear is not the absence of danger, but the presence of a powerful person who is mightier than any force that tries to attack us. The answer to fear is the presence of Almighty God, who is with us and cares for us. He will do anything to deliver us from evil. So, beloved, whenever you face a challenge, remind yourself that you are not alone. God is with you, and His wisdom and power are at your disposal.
This is why Jesus spoke to His fear-stricken disciples in the midst of a life-threatening storm. He said, “Be of good cheer. It is I. Fear not!” (Matthew 14:27). When fear attacks you, remind yourself that Jesus is with you, cares for you, and is actively working on your situation. By doing this, you will rise above all fears and remain at peace.
Friend, fear is destructive; it magnifies the negative and holds us back from acting boldly in the face of challenges. It also prevents us from pursuing what God has called us to do.
Beloved, those who live in fear remain trapped by their circumstances. In contrast, those of us who rise above our fears can realize our full potential and experience great things in life. The way to overcome fear is not by avoiding trouble or challenges, nor is it through excessive positive affirmations or endless knowledge. Rather, it comes from the awareness of a higher power working on your behalf, which can dispel every fear. This understanding of God’s unwavering presence with you is what truly brings peace.
God bless you!
